Guarding the Chew

The other night Charlie and Gabbie were chewing chews in the backyard. They each treat this as a somewhat dangerous and competitive endeavor, requiring constant vigilance and care, and sometimes even growling, lest the other make a play for and steal away a coveted morsel, let alone the whole chew.

When dinner was over and the plates ready to lick, Gabbie stayed outside chewing, but Charlie arrived in the kitchen in a heartbeat. With his chew, of course. Which he carefully placed on the plate so he could protect it, while taking care of business. What a dog!

Charliekins,

I know exactly how that is, with Ole Yeller vying for my rawhides AND my bowl everytime. Even though it's well accepted that I'm the alpha around here, someone is always looking to steal food... even Miss Kitty! I gotta hand to you for thinking things through. You got to finish off the dinner plate AND keep your chew intact. When you're on "Science Diet" grub, like me, even a few licks of human food is worth
abandoning all else.

Charlie,

I'm still impressed with how you're learning so well, and how you have your priorities right.

Good work.

I'm lucky, I'm on my own so I don't have to worry about anyone else eatin' my nosh. Tho' sometimes I think mum is going to take it away before I finish, so I just gobble and gobble and don't take a breath 'til I've eaten everything.

Even if I need to have a pee I'll hold it 'til the bowl is empty.

Food = #1.

Always.

Always.

Just remember that, Charlie boy.

Hear endeth the sermon from Fr Tin Tin.

Chow for now,

Tin Tin xo

that ought to be documented as standard operating procedure and distributed to all growing pups! never leave a chew or toy carelessly for prowling housemates, not even when we need to answer a call from mother nature. yup, that's what i will do when my wire fox parents and other friends come visit me.

clever charlie!
