Charlie's New BFF

You'll recall how much Charlie likes his mailman. Well, I don't remember exactly when and how it happened, but things have changed since October.

No longer does the mail carrier leave treats outside the door for Charlie to retrieve with the mail...

...nor is Charlie babygated upstairs at mailtime, anymore...

... because Charlie and his new best friend now do a daily greeting ... one-on-one.

"Hi, buddy!"

Charlie lies at the head of the unbabygated stairs or at a nearby window, watching and listening for the distinctive *snap* of the mail slot, whereupon he races to the door, barking ferociously. But now, when he sees it's Jeffrey, the bark turns from ferocious to demanding, or even quiets entirely, while Charlie waits for us to come open the door, so he can squirm through and let the greetings begin.

Of course, the very best greetings involve both snuzzling and treats, and these are no exception.

Catching a treat in mid-air.

So Charlie now has the mailman eating out of his hand. Only it's the other way around, really. Thanks, Jeffrey -- all of us around here think you're "paw"some!

How cool is that?? So many dogs don't like men in uniform, and I admire Jeffrey for going the extra mile to not let this be the case for Charlie--A big chocolate bunny kudo to him for that!!

I don't know if I've ever posted to you and Charlie before, but I have a Charlie who is a Golden as well, and looks just like your sweet pup!

I love following your blog, seeing your awesome pictures, and enjoying your sense of humor.

I am VERY glad that Charlie and the mailman are now friend.

Yay! Very pawsome that you've become such good friends with your mail carrier! And we want to wish you a furry Happy Easter, Charlie! I've had a bad day with all the rain here today and imagine that you must be getting buckets as well. Hope you're having a peaceful Sunday!
Hugs xoxoxo

Good show Charile boy. You do us Goldens proud. Always helps to have a cool mail carrier. Dad sez I'm not allowed to run in the street to greet ours, cause I want to give him lot's of kisses and nudges. My mail guy delivers to a line of rural boxes (never gets out of his truck!). Oh well, will have to beg for cookies elsewhere.

That is the coolest mailman ever! I love this post and I love Charlie for letting the mailman have a good welcome at a house for a change. My sister's dog jumped through the window and well....let's just say it wasn't good.
