Somehow I Hadn't Counted on This Turn of Events...

As a pup, Charlie demolished his beds -- fleece, cordura, even Orvis Toughchews... the material didn't matter - he would find a weak spot, chew a hole and then try to eat the stuffing. Though I regularly sewed them up, he just saw it as a challenge... one he easily met. Sew... demolish... resew... demolish... I finally quit trying, and we put them away (except for one in the bedroom to be used with supervision).

Recently it occurred to me, however, that since he seems to be grown up enough to generally play with stuffies without (always) eating them, it might be time to get Charlie a new bed. So I did -- another Orvis Toughchew.

As hoped for, he hasn't chewed on it. Now if I can just get him to lie on it...

I don't much like lying on my bed either, unless it's in the car, or it's the one Mum and Dad sleep in!

There must be some secret to getting a dog to sleep in a bed we buy for them, but I've never learned it.

Our dogs really love the comfy dog beds and this one certainly would be one that would be enjoyed in our house! I'm sure Charlie will discover it soon enough--I just hope that he doesn't discover a new chew toy too! :-)

I don't know, after what our boys did to their beds - they are getting towels to sleep on, and not the good ones either! :)

Duncan likes to sleep on my bed with me, at least until he thinks I'm asleep, at which point he slips down into his kennel and curls up on the bed in there, with his two blankets and Winnie the Pooh to keep him warm and comfy. The trouble is, I'm never quite asleep when he jumps down, just in that halfway place, teetering on the brink, one second away from dreamland, until he moves, at which point I'm wide awake until long after he's snoring.

Silly dogs.
