How to Ground a Golden

I'm sure this will cause Khyra and the other Sibes more snickering; I know it wouldn't work if Charlie were a husky...

Babygate at the top of the stairs

Barricaded steps up to the terraces.

Barricaded lower west-side yard.

Strict instructions to sleep on his *own* bed.

No playing "Chase Charlie".

Just one little patch of lower east-side yard to roam in long enough to do "business".

"Awww... mom... please please please can I go up there?"

The good news is that Charlie's definitely feeling better. Not quite to the point of challenging the "sleep on the dog-bed" rule, but when he snuck past the baby gate, he was able to come back up the stairs on his own. So there's definite progress.

One week down; one to go!

Hey Charlie... why are you grounded? Moose understands... he had an unfortunate incarceration that went on for nearly 2 months while his knee healed. I looked back a few posts but did not see what happened? Whatever it is I am glad you are on the mend and hang in there you will have your freedom restored in due time! Moose + Dana

You're stronger than me, that's for sure! That "Chase Charlie" picture almost did me in. I couldn't resist a face like that!

I do so hope it is not an ACL problem! The thing I regretted most is that I did not take Moose to the vet sooner. I would let him rest a few days then when he seemed ok we would get back to normal and we did that several times before I decided it was not just a sprain. And allowing him to get active again allowed arthritis to start and that will never go away. It sounds like you took him right away so hope he will do better than Moose! The longer the rest the better so if you start to give in to the pleading Charlie face just visit my blog around Oct 2008 to restore your resolve!
Be strong! Dana + Moose
P.S. I spent some time at the Cedar Key lab too! Awesome place... that is where I got hooked! small world!

We’re glad that you’re feeling better… just have to be patient and follow the rules for a while!
I think you’re a really well behaved!! If it was Pu… there would be no barriers to stop that little monster… he would find a way!

So good to ear that you're feeling better, Charlie-Boy... I don't like barricades either. I get the same "gosh-how-can-you-do-that-to-me" look you have and it never works. Evil hoomans!

:)

Oh man, that totally sucks. But I'm glad to know you're feeling a little better now. Hopefully you'll recover 100% & then you can go where ever you want again! I hope so.

Glad to hear he is doing better with stairs! We had to carry Truffles up and down stairs for a couple of months - not fun...

Oh no Charlie! Look what happens when I don't visit in a while. Hurty legs AND being grounded. That's no fun. Those baby gates would stop me too. All mom has to do is put a gym bag in a doorway and I stay put. I sure hope you're feeling better.
