That's assuming he's willing. And Charlie is so fearful of so many things that I'm worried he won't be. Willing, that is.Yesterday we started the introduction process by taking Charlie to the Columbia River Yacht Club to visit the boathouse & start getting comfortable with the surroundings. He sniffed all around, went inside & out, poked his head into the boatwell (but wouldn't go farther), and even met Cheyenne, a golden retriever girl who explained everything to him (including that she's the boss).
The goal was to have a good, non-challenging, non-scary time and I think we succeeded.
Next step? Start getting Charlie used to the boat with the engine off. And excited about "going for a ride" in it. Oh yeah, and figure out how to fish him out if he falls in the drink. 'Cause, oh baby, when we finally do turn on that engine, I want to be prepared!

Where is Charlie's stylish puppy life vest? Spineless bionic hip puppy Sam wears a life vest when he goes swimming in a pool, so Charlie should have one!
Meeshka
Don't worry, Meeshka, Charlie will definitely be getting a stylish puppy life vest!

I am sure when Charlie gets used to it... he will love it!

Oh Charlie I don't know what to tell you since I have never been on a boat. I love water! You will have to let me know how your boating goes! I bet you get some pointers from Amber-Mae she just got back from a boating ride.
Kisses,
Sami
What a good and careful companion you are! Charlie is lucky indeed! I can't wait to see his first adventure.
Charlie, you can do it. Just head over to my blog & check out the pictures & a short video of us, on a boat ride!!! It's really fun but Chloe didn't really take it too well. Not sure if she really wants to get on a boat again next time but just ignore her in that video. It really isn't scawie at all! I can assure you...

Charlie will be doing fine. How can he live so close to the mighty Columbia and not want to glide across it at times.
I'm betting Charlie is going to ace the boat ride! Boat rides are the best!

I just wanted to thank you for the great blog. Stop by Tuesday's While Walking Duncan to see what you've been awarded!
And hurry and get that dog on the boat already! I can't wait to see what happens, and maybe take some lessons for Dunc!
Before long, Charlie will be the captain. You are definitely initiating him well... he's going to love it. Right, Charlie??

Charlie... just a tip from one Golden to another... whatever you do, don't let them take you on a 3 hour cruise.... especially if there's anyone on the boat named "Skipper" or "Ginger" ... I'm just saying it could turn out bad.
Keep on Wagging!
Max the Golden Retriever
Charlie, I've got an award for you on my blog. Come by and pick it up when you have a minute.
