Charlie, the Amazing Water Dog

Ok, that's a joke. Charlie isn't really a water dog, yet. Mea culpa, since most of our water opportunities come on vacation, where there's no good way to clean him up. And when he's stinky and wet, I don't really want him inside the RV.

So this is Charlie's biggest water experience to-date, and I think it went well. He was a little shy at first (because that's how he is about everything), but pretty quickly he waded in and seemed to have fun walking around, sniffing rocks and water plants. Even more so when I went wading with him.

I guess he was proud of himself, too, because even when he went in just enough to barely get his feet wet, he'd come back up on shore and shake like he'd been totally soaked. What a goof ball!

Pretty tame stuff next to some of you swimming pups. But I guess you've gotta start somewhere.

Oh Charlie, if I was there, I would definitely dash straight into the water & make a big splash! I LOVE the seas, lakes, pools & everything that's filled with water! Oh Carlie, there's nothing to be scared off. Believe me, you'll love it. Just go a little deeper & sooner or later, you'll discover that you'll not want to come out of that sea. I would definitely go far away! Weeeee! It's all about having fun!

You're doing just fine, Charlie! Just take it as your own pace, and soon enough you'll be swimming like the best of 'em!

Hang in there; you'll it yet!

Hi, Charlie
I'd go directly to the water!!! But, being your first time I think you did it pretty good! I am sure as soon as you get used to the water you will like it a lot!
Have a nice day

Charlie! You gotta jump right in and get wet. Tell your mom to just buy extra towels for a good dry down after. And tell her to get right in there with you too. That was my first swimming experience. My dad got in the water and swam with me. It was so cool. Now, I live to swim.
Mom finds me a little stinky afterward, but that's a small price to pay for me living up to my breeding.

Hey Charlies,

You are a better waters dog than me. When I was at the big waters, it chased me and skardys me. Soo it's terra firmas for me.

Everydog has waters videos at their place so I guess I better get ∆≈ to put 1,2 1,2 one on my bark.

Keep your water wings close by.

Wuufs!

Wow your vacation looks swell. We wish we had an RV too! Oneday our pops say!

We don't really like swimming either nor baths and we hate sprinklers (we go around them) and of course rain.

But we know you are going to be a wimmer - all our friends who look like you love the water!

Wooos, Charlie,
good job! I only like water that's frozen solid, (it's in my genes), but I live on an island completely surrounded by salty wet stuff!

(And thanks for the Russian words, Charlie!)

Hi Charlie
You're very brave. I'm like you .. I don't like getting my feet wet but I'm not used to being near water. The hoomans are silly throwing rocks though, aren't they. As if we'd be bothered with rocks. Have a great weekend.

Dude, the water is our friend. It is like a part of us...like balls blend in with the green grass of summer..so does our retrieverness blends with the water.

Charlie! you will learn to deal with the water so no worries! I prefer water that is puddle deep...anything above the ankles & I'm not to thrilled....

Charlie, you don't have to love the water even if you're a retriever! I'm a swimming-hating, non-retrieving golden too!

Good job there Charlie.

Hmmm, yes I'm a bit ambivalent about water myself.

Don't mind paddling round the edges, but I'm not thrilled when the da decides to pick me up (yeah really) and bring me out so that I have to swim back. I do it, but, you know, I'd prefer a bone or a roll in the muck.

Chow for now,

Hi Charlie!
I found your blog through Sparky and I think you look like a fun guy! I understand your feelings about the water. People tell me all the time that I'm supposed to be a "water-dog", but really, I just like to wade in it and splash around a little. No swimming and diving for me!

Until next time!
