Duet

Uncle Ben is visiting, and Charlie thinks he's wonderful! He's been singing every night for Ben, and last night he finally worked up his courage to try a duet. I think he heard that Ben's band, Blackwater Collective, is moving to town and is trying to wangle an audition!

Wooooooooooo...

Spring Poem

Daffodils are yellow
Camelias are red
If I squish mom's tulips
I'm gonna be...

...SORRY!

Mom to the Rescue - Part II

Then there's the problem of the ears. The best stuff being at the bottom, who wants to lick the boring sides clean first so your ear fur doesn't drag in it?

Not Charlie, that's for sure!!

So, again...
Mom to the rescue!

He's so focused, I'll bet I could clean the inside of that ear without him even noticing.

Mom to the Rescue!

Charlie loves to lick things out.

But there are some downsides...

I'm sure he could just lick his nose clean... but he won't. He'd much rather rub it on the carpet. So...

Mom to the rescue!

"Ptoooey!!"

Smiley

When he's not explicitly playing, Charlie often has a serious, almost worried expression. Every once in awhile, though, he'll crack a smile like this.

I Knew I'd Regret That Trick...

We've had Camelot-like weather in Portland, which is to say it's only rained at night; the days have been fine and clear. As a result, Gabbie's been back to play more.

The other day, she and Charlie were zooming around the yard, playing chase, when Charlie turned and streaked towards me. I expected him to veer off at the last minute, as usual, but I guess he'd decided to go through my legs... at full speed... without them being particularly open...

What's that phrase... a** over teacup? Well, anyway, down I went, fortunately more surprised than hurt. And Charlie and Gabbie raced on.

Maybe I won't encourage that wind-through-my-legs trick quite so much anymore. :)

The Pre-wash Cycle

Heck, who needs a dishwasher at all with Charlie around?

Go In and Out the Window...

One of Charlie's methods for keeping the Cuz away from Gabbie is to weave in and out through my legs. It always reminds me of that "Go In and Out the Window" children's song.

Fortunately, Gabbie usually won't follow, but I'm sure someday I'll regret letting Charlie learn this tactic.

So Serious

Monday, January 28, 2008

Yummm!

Charlie's little wading pool blew over and the rain that collected at the bottom froze, so now Charlie has a nice big cake of ice to eat.

At least it's probably better for him than sticks...
