While it often rains here, Portland only occasionally gets thunderstorms. So considering his limited experience with them, I was surprised to see Charlie's response. Not waiting for the first clap of thunder (which frankly I expected too, but never happened), he immediatey headed to his place of safety.
He says he may have been wrong this time, but better safe than sorry!

Hi, Charlie!
You are so right! Better safe than sorry!
I like your place of safety!
Kisses and hugs

You're no dummy, Charlie! That's where I'd be headed as soon as the rain started!

I go to my safe place when it's windy too. The wind is almost as bad as the thunder because it makes things bang really loudly and suddenly. It's very scary!
Woof! Stay safe Charlie.

Sometimes it's better to be safe than sorry☺
Oh Charlie, you dear thing! Thunder is really scary - even the giraffes here in South Africa try and stay away from it...it can have serious consequences for them. Well done for hiding away! Remember, behind every cloud is a happy sun.

Oh Charlie, you look so sweet and sad under there!
We hide in the closet or under the bed when we hear thunder. We feel your pain Charlie!
Tess is the only one really bothered by thunder in our house. You look cute hiding under there Charlie.

Cute cubby house. it looks real safe you clever dog. Ailsa an i not scared of thunder but Ailsa real scared of wind when shes inside. I thinks she scared the doors going to slam.
Looks like Charlie has the right idea! Great picture.
Be prepared. We can see that Charlie takes his drills in a serious manner.
Oh Charlie, what a great picture. If I was there I would keep you safe.
Be brave my friend,
xoxo

Oh, i understand ! I hate the thunder too, but Big brother, Cody doesn't. Every dog have it's own weakpoint right ? BOL !
Oh poor Charlie. Send that rain and thunder our way so we can hide too.
Aw what a cutie! It can be so surprising sometimes when animals can sense things a lot quicker than we can. Like animals can sense if there's a fire a lot quicker than us humans! What a cute little dog :-)
His face is absolutely identical to Duncan's, who also hides under the desk, or if I'm sitting there, under the bed.
This makes me want to crawl under there and cuddle. Poor thing!
