Up Against the Wall

Gabbie came over to play with Charlie the other morning. It was cool and they were frisky, running and jumping and playing tug-of-Cuz. After about a half hour of supervising their play (which minimizes major dog-landscaping and cat-related first aid), I went down to the end of the yard and sat in the shady grass with my back against the rock wall. Within minutes I had a lap full of big dogs playing capture-the-momma... too tired to run, but not at all ready to wind down.

The Joy of Cooking

There's nothing better than fresh Oregon strawberry pie.

Unless it's licking the beaters...

Corn Dog

Charlie had a successful experience this week eating corn on the cob! We tried it once with puppy Charlie with poor results - - which is to say that he ignored the corn, but rather tried to eat the cob. This time I think even Charlie would agree it went much better!

Runs in the Family

Charlie has a way of watching me. Constantly... alertly... solemnly... preparedly. Conserving energy while he waits to see what I we do next. Making sure I don't do anything without him.

And apparently it runs in the family! Because the picture above is of his sister, Sophie, not Charlie. And I know that gaze!

Kung-fu Biting

         Everybody was kung-fu biting

Those cats were fast as lightning

In fact it was a little bit frightening

But they fought with expert timing
